Car boots away!

Posted on November 13, 2011

It was a glorious day in London today.  The sun bravely shone from dawn til dusk.  After days of fog and mist, it was a wonderful return.

We decided to head to Pimlico for the afternoon to indulge in some bargain-hunting at the car-boot sale there.  We were very excited to find that the market, far from reflecting its posh surroundings, was an absolute treasure trove of crockery, clothing, bric-a-brac, art-work, furniture, books and all sorts and lively bargaining was in force.

The most fabulous thing about markets in this country is that one thing that might have been made yesterday is cheek by jowl with another made centuries ago. So exciting!!  The most fabulous find was two japanese silk framed paintings we bought for less than 10 quid.  They are so incredibly beautiful and will brighten up our house.  Naturally, there was much dispute about items which I loved and my partner detested and vice versa but that just made the day more fun.  Our house is starting to feel more like a home.

I love a good car boot sale!
